Outworld Interview with Rusty Cooley

Interviewed by: Metallive
Date: October 2005

Q: I compare you in my review with the legendary Shrapnel guitar players. Do you agree or is it just coincidence?

Yeah that's fair. I grew up listening to all of that stuff and it was a dream come true to finally release my own instrumental cd.

Q: You recorded most of the songs between 1998 and 2002. Was it not possible to release your solo album earlier than 2003?

No because it wasn't totally complete until summer of 2002 and by the time I signed my deal it was too late for a 2002 release.

Q: Why Lion Music? Were there other labels interested?

I had three other deals but I felt like Lion Music was the best way to go.

Q: Are you gonna release a new solo album in the future? When?

No plans for that at the moment Outworld keeps me very busy.

Q: You have an impressive solo career with dvd and cd releases. Why did you start Outworld again?

Thanks. I never intended to be a solo artist it was a slight break from the usual band thing it just took longer than I expected to finish. I personally believe you will have a greater chance at being successful in a band that as a solo guitarist. Instrumental guitar music is a very small crowd.

Q: What do you enjoy most. Working on a solo record or Outworld?

Definitely Outworld. I love playing in a band and working with others. I have the best group of guys I have ever worked with right now.

Q: Any tour plans? Solo and/or band?

Yes with Outworld we don't have anything set up at the moment. The cd should be out in January 2006 and then our label and management(Replica Records and Intromental ) will set that up.

Q: Any last words?

Thanks and please check out Outworld at www.outworldband.com and www.myspace.com/outworld there are three samples on the last url I mentioned from the new cd.

Thanks for the answers!!
